CCTV is widespread in Brisbane, but it doesn't prevent theft. It is always going to be better to do what you can to prevent the crime in the first place. Our Alarm Monitoring does that.

Alarms in Queensland are NOT monitored by the Queensland Police Service

The Queensland Police service are clear about alarms and security systems. They do recommend-:

• Electronic security alarm systems can be an effective crime prevention tool for your business
• Be clear about what you want the alarm system to do
• Have a budget in mind – but remember the cheapest is not always the best
• Ensure the system meets Australian standards
• Be aware of false alarm activations

Preventing Parcel Theft

Many eCommerce Shopping Cart sites allow hiding spots for parcels. This however creates a problem of deliveries in hi-vis or people posing as deliveries in hi-vis, but actually being thieves. Hence your alarm monitoring would help prevent fake delivery people entering your property and you could consider a parcel letter box.

The Victorian Government page on parcel theft makes the following points-:

• Most crime is opportunistic
• Australia Post reported over 1 million parcels were stolen last year
• If you know your neighbour it may be appropriate to have the shopping delivered to them if they are going to be home
• You may also want to consider a motion sensor security light that records any activity to the cloud
• CCTV rarely prevents crime
• Install a parcel letterbox at your front door or at the start of your driveway
